  light locations. the thing about buying your dream house is that it can be a little weird taking over someone else’s bathroom. it’s such a personal space and when you view houses online, or visit open houses in person, bathrooms can go from being completely wow, to sometimes something much less than ideal. in the back of my mind, i’m thinking “industrial strength cleaner, exists, right?” and trying to keep an open mind. like anything, bathroom styling is so subjective, and while i lean towards something simple, other people prefer their vanities to look more like a hollywood makeup trailer, complete with big huge lightbulb fixtures. me — i prefer an all white bath if i can get it, but when you’re buying a house you quickly realize bathrooms come in all colors, shapes and sizes and you might have to live with that for a while, unless you can renovate right away. all white is alright, via the donkey and the carrot. art deco bathroom with minty green tiles, via...

  it’s been a reeeal long while since my last dream house post, and now that we’re starting to plan some updates, i’m back to pulling a ton of reference and daydreaming. i’m going to show you our backyard soon, but basically it’s a mess. it’s a clean slate because there’s nothing going on, but we have a shallow cement patio, some random poured concrete and way more weeds than you can even imagine. so we’re now in the beginning stages of planning the backyard and we’re hoping to build out a deck.it’s been sad not being able to use our backyard yet, but i’m hoping come summer — it’s our own little oasis. but the center of our plan is the deck — because i love a good deck. and i love all these decks.

  lily . when i finally move into my dream house  (is it soon? please tell me it’s soon!) , i’m probably going to be a bit more ‘adult’ about my artwork. and by that i mean i’d like to be more selective, a bit more thoughtful about what goes up on my walls, and probably a whole lot more minimal. but it’s hard for me to simply discard or give away art, so what i thought i’d do is select one nook in my future dream house and create a little gallery. that’s where most of my treasured photographs, sketches and paintings will live — in a small gallery of their very own. i’d like it to look something like these gallery walls here – well-intentioned, but not pretentious. just a simple collection of the artwork i love and can’t leave behind. jenni kayne’s home, via  one kings lane .
